Welcome to Nancy Olson Water Fitness!

Teaching water fitness to groups and individuals is my passion. I was introduced to the therapeutic properties of water after having knee surgery. At the time, I was working for the Miami Marlins Baseball Club. Our team doctor, Dan Kanell, performed arthroscopic surgery to repair a torn meniscus on my right knee. After the surgery, he told me to simply walk in a pool in chest deep water for rehab. I did that faithfully and found my legs getting stronger and stronger.

After nearly 14 years working in baseball, I returned to my first career as a teacher and became an adjunct faculty member for the Sport and Recreation Management Department at Nova

Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I joined the University’s “RecPlex” and started taking water fitness classes. My instructor inspired me to get certified. After receiving my first certification from the United States Water Fitness Association, I started subbing at the University and at Pine Island Aquatic Center in Davie, Florida. During that time, my specialty became deep water classes as well as giving private lessons thanks to Dr. Kanell who started sending me patients.

On January 11, 2016 I launched my business, Nancy Olson Water Fitness! Since then, my business has continued to grow. In addition, to my USWFA certification, I am now certified by AEA, the Aquatic Exercise Association. I enjoy attending AEA conferences and workshops and incorporate my learning into fun filled and enjoyable water fitness classes for my clients.

As I tell college students at Nova Southeastern University, something positive came out of a negative situation for me. I am now an entrepreneur and am using what I learned many years ago as a Health and Physical Education Major at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. I also have a M.Ed. in Health and Physical Education from the University of Miami and a M.S. in Sport Administration from St. Thomas University.

My classes are filled with great music, laughter, and a genuine camaraderie among everyone. Come join me at the pool in Davie for a low impact form of exercise in refreshing water. I teach year-round since the Pine Island Aquatic Center pool is heated and well-maintained by a capable staff.

See you at the pool!
